Scawby Academy Fire Safety Equipment Replacement

Challenge

Eddisons Commercial Ltd were appointed by St Hybalds Academy Trust to apply for Condition Improvement Funding for replacement of fire doors, fire alarms and emergency lighting, and to deliver the scheme upon approval of funding.

The project provided the school with fully compliant fire doors throughout the site, a new L2 fire alarm system and upgraded emergency lighting, in accordance with current standards.

Eddisons acted as Contract Administrator and coordinated the design and procurement processes as well as obtaining all statutory consents such as building control.

The project was delivered from inception to completion and phased around a live school.

Solution

The works comprised of removing the full existing door sets and replacing with full new FD30s throughout the site. Non fire rated glazed screens were dismantled and re-erected as part of the project.

The existing fire alarm system was removed and replaced with a new L2 fire alarm system and alarm panel, and emergency lighting upgraded to current standards.

Results

Our specialist project team successfully delivered the fire safety project on time, within budget and to a high standard. The school will benefit from the project by having compliant fire doors and a new fire alarm and emergency lighting system.

Eddisons continue to work with St Hybalds Academy Trust in respect of similar projects and look to undertake a further fire safety project at another site within the trust during the next round of CIF.
