What is Urgent Capital Support Funding?
Urgent Capital Support (UCS) provides critical funding for academies and sixth-form colleges to address urgent building condition issues that may endanger staff and pupils, or risk closure to the school.
It is offered predominantly as a loan, based on an evaluation of the financial status of the trust, for those that cannot access the School Condition Allocation (SCA) fund and who cannot wait for the next round of the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF). Grant financing is exclusively allocated to schools under exceptional circumstances, and unlike other funds, it remains accessible year-round.
At Eddisons, we understand the urgency of such needs and can guide you through the UCS application process to secure timely funding.
Who can apply for Urgent Capital Support?
Academies and sixth-form colleges eligible for the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) can apply for Urgent Capital Support. This funding addresses situations where immediate support is required to address pressing building condition issues, classifying it as an ‘urgent’ issue.
What can it be used for?
UCS funding can be used to address various urgent issues including:
- Structural concerns
- Health and safety compliance
- Asbestos
- Leaking roofs
- Fire protection
- Boiler and pipework failure
- Electrical issues
