School-based nursery funding launches for 2025
A £15million injection into the education sector has facilitated the first round of funding for up to 300 school-based nurseries.
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson announced the investment on 17 October, on behalf of the government, which will be available to primary schools that are looking to support the delivery of their own curriculum. The deadline to apply for this new funding is midday on Thursday 19 December 2024.
What is school-based nursery funding?
An additional 321,462 children are now accessing 15 hours of ‘free’ childcare a week, making resources like nurseries even more sought after than ever before.
This school-based nursery funding is part of the government’s bigger plan of “upgrading space” for primary schools through opening 3000 additional nurseries.
The £150,000 grants that are awarded to successful schools will assist them in planning building works, meeting SEND requirements and improving HVAC capabilities.
Half of local areas have been identified in needing to increase their capacity for these hundreds of thousands of new allocations.
How to apply for school-based nursery funding
Applications for school-based nursery funding can be made through registering through the new programme on the gov.uk website. Schools are encouraged to check their availability beforehand to ensure that they are applying for the best funding for you.
