Demolition and Site Clearance for University of Bolton
Challenge
The University of Bolton approached Eddisons to assist with the whole scale demolition and site clearance at one of the university’s redundant sites, in preparation for a £60m redevelopment of the site.
Solution
We met with stakeholders from the university and discussed the requirements in detail, ensuring open communication and full transparency on the brief. A competitive tendering process was then undertaken to enlist the services of relevant specialist contractors.
The Building Consultancy team managed all aspects of the demolition works from initiation through to completion which included production of all technical drawings and specification of works, the submission of full outline planning application; undertaking an complete asbestos survey and abatement works and ensuring full compliance with the Party Wall act. Our primary objective for this project was to provide the University with a trouble-free demolition project and meeting a tight deadline.
Results
The project was delivered to the University’s complete satisfaction and ensured that their site redevelopment was able to commence on schedule. In addition, we achieved a 96% recycle rate and passed on £20k worth of efficiency savings.
The academy no longer needs their heating system to operate throughout the day to maintain a comfortable internal temperature. This has resulted in the academy making annual savings on their utility costs, expenditure of which can be reinvested into other areas of the academy.
The client, pupils and parents are all delighted with the finished appearance of the academy which incorporated insulated panels to match the academy corporate colours.
